Be The Spark. Live With Heart. Turn It Into Art.

The History of 29Rooms

We launched the first 29Rooms in September 2015 on Refinery29’s 10-Year Anniversary as a way bring our brand to life in the real world.

Organized to disrupt the exclusivity of New York Fashion Week, we partnered with creative visionaries like Petra Collins and Solange Knowles into order to build 29 distinct artistic experiences that everyone could enjoy.

The results blew us away.

Today, 29Rooms has become a vibrant community where culture, creativity and imagination are unlocked and celebrated year after year. Through our traveling tours and ever-changing spaces, new artists, partners, and visionaries continue to bring ideas to life through interactive installations, performances, workshops, and more.

This first-of-its-kind event brings together a vibrant, creative crowd and engages millions globally through live experiences designed to unlock the creativity inside us all.

Our Past Tours

2015

the first 29Rooms

An experiential journey across 29 experiences into the heart of style and culture.

2016

Powered By People

Timed to New York Fashion Week, we took over a 70,000 square foot warehouse in Bushwick for 29Rooms in 2016. Inspired by the theme “Powered by People”, we built an experience that explored how individuals can create change both big and small, putting attendees at the center and in control of our 29 installations.

2017

Turn It Into Art

The 2017 theme, “Turn It Into Art”, was a call to action to celebrate the transformative power of creativity, building our 29 experiences to channel art’s ability to unify, heal, and uplift; to provoke new ideas and new actions. Across our 4-city tour of Turn it Into Art, we invited bold leaders and visionaries, from Planned Parenthood and the Women’s March to Janelle Monae and Alexa Meade, to shine their light and celebrate the indomitable spirit of Art.
