GENERAL FAQS

So what is 29Rooms?

29Rooms is Refinery29’s immersive world of culture and creativity. Within our space, artistic visionaries and brands bring thought-provoking ideas to life through interactive installations, live performances, and open workshops. It’s like a tasting menu of contemporary culture and we’re giving you permission to totally let loose. Our goal is to unlock imaginations, spark conversations, and convince visitors to dream bigger.

Who created 29Rooms?

Piera Gelardi, co-founder and executive creative director of Refinery29, launched 29Rooms as a first-of-its-kind interactive art exhibition. In just 4 years, 29Rooms has become a cultural touchpoint that’s welcomed over 100,000 visitors in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago, reached 1 in 2 people on Instagram, and partnered with innovative creators like Janelle Monáe, Petra Collins, Shantell Martin, Cleo Wade, and Nina Chanel Abney. 29Rooms has generated billions of press impressions, been featured on the cover of the New York Times’ Arts section, and awarded a CLIO Award for Best Live Event.
